Aurora

Blink
Tell me what you see
The Earth
At the palm of my hand
All its majesty and grandeur
Formed by only sea and land

Blink
Now what do you perceive?
Planets
9, no 8, in all
It just takes my breath away
How they all look so small

Blink
Is there anything new you discern?
The galaxies
Oh, there really aren’t words to say
Such astounding beauty
Don’t wake me, please let me stay

Open your eyes
You’ve been gone far too long
Drifting ever further away
In a direction that is wrong

Blink
Look outside, tell me what you glimpse
Colours
People, cars, and the sky so blue
Like an aurora
Their colours are pretty too

Think
We all look too far for beauty
For what has always been near
You should never stop living
In the now and the here

Now blink
And stop making the universe shrink

North Star

I've been lost at sea
For far too long
The voices scream
Telling me I've had enough
But for now, it's quiet

For now

They say there is a calm
Right before the storm
How true that is
Now depends on you
So point
And I will follow

Connect The Dots

Dusk enveloped the lands
Yet cease not, did the sun glow
Squeezing sweat glands dry somewhere
And others, mere rays through snow

As one star hides away
Millions of other came out to play
I glanced your way and smiled
Again, we raced each other to the bay

By the witness of the nebulae above
We pulled each other to the ground
Laughed until our lungs were sore
And went on till the sea was found

Out of breath, I sit under the stars
And marvel at the specks of light
I almost let loose a laugh when I remember
That you aren't here with me tonight

Where you went, I do not know
But it is awfully quiet without our fight
The grown ups say you're happier now
I dare you to come and tell me they're right

I may not be as bright as the stars
But I start to connect the dots
It doesn't matter if you're here, or light years far
I know we'll remain connected
By the constellations of our hearts

Haley

Retinas still burnt from your beauty
From the last time I laid my eyes upon
That flowing white dress that trailed
That icy flame that exuded your being
A spectacle on that cold, calm night

Without so much as a word, you retreated
Back to whence you came
Leaving me, feet plastered to the ground
Gawking at the unnaturally bleak skies
That will never again be as radiant

But alas, never once have I moved
From the very spot we met
With a smile on my face, I wait
Hanging on a thread of words
A promise that one day you’ll return

And once again will my soul burn

Starshine

Mistake me not
I know you're there
How could I forget
You and your dark wavy hair

I took a sip of coffee
My head tilted up
I noticed a twinkle of joy
As eyes met over my cup

Tempted as I was
Words forming in my head
It went off soon again
That wretched monster, wire fed

The folly came then
When a choice was made
A trap that ensnared many a man
Of which a price was surely paid

For the more we look down
At these unnatural blips of light
More so will our starshine fade
Back into the cold, abyssal night
