Retinas still
burnt from your beauty
From the last
time I laid my eyes upon
That flowing
white dress that trailed
That icy flame
that exuded your being
A spectacle on
that cold, calm night
Without so
much as a word, you retreated
Back to whence
you came
Leaving me,
feet plastered to the ground
Gawking at the
unnaturally bleak skies
That will
never again be as radiant
But alas,
never once have I moved
From the very
spot we met
With a smile
on my face, I wait
Hanging on a
thread of words
A promise that
one day you’ll return
And once again
will my soul burn
